Hi Jim,

Was wondering if you could give an update on your signature guitar.

Thanks.

Below is a photo of Campy guitars drying at the Fender Custom Shop factory, so rest assured they do exist!
it's been a long wait but we are told they will be shipped out in March.
After the shipping is done two Orange guitars will be built. The orange color is from a corvette (metalflake!) formula courtesy of David Croy. One of the orange guitars will be offered in a FREE give-a-way by Fender Custom Shop... details to follow as soon as we get them...

  • Nice. I pine for an orange tele.
  • Sooo cool!
  • Will there be a link to the contest coming up? Any details? I am chomping at the bit!
  • Ok so I am a teleholic. Like Jim's playing, this only adds to obsession.
  • No details for the give-a-way yet ... thanks -Jim
  • Sweet!
Glad to see you went with the "short-scale, purple broom handle" neck for that authentic look and feel. Nice touch. The small details make all the difference!
Seriously, though, I'm psyched to see this is finally happening. Please do post the orange pics when you get 'em.
  • Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to answer Jim. Fender sure takes the double top secret approach and it's really satisfying to learn the facts AND SEE its' existence. I've read some crazy, inaccurate stuff out there in other forums...
  • Wow - giving away an orange Campy? I am definitely in for that drawing!
  • Jim,
Here it is mid March and my excitment is
growing now that your guitar will realized.
I want to thank you again for your inspiration. I have tried other types of guitars but I always come back to the Tele.
I know it will be a great moment for you
    when the 50 are delivered.
I would like suggest that we all send
you photos of us holding the Campy
    when they arrive.
    John Casado
  • I wanna see everybody holding their New Campy Models when they get 'em. Ill be looking forward to the pics.
  • The Campy tele is now on the Fender Custom Shop Site. Couldn't figure out how to post it directly. I hope the link works...

  • Forgot to add "real nice!"
  • Geeky technical question: what kind of pots? Not the values necessarily, but what brand or type? I ask because I recently put some CTS pots in a Tele of mine- they sound great but feel a little "tight". Takes a bit more effort to do tone swells than I' like...I know Jim' all about tone knob manipulation, so...
  • Hi. They are stock and they were described as "loose feel". Other than that I really don't know. I'm assuming they're un-lubricated. Thanks. If I find anything else out I'll add more detail.

    -Will
  • I loosen my pots by spraying with WD40........turning em back n forth bout 100 times........then spraying with DEOXIT to clean out the WD40, then turning em back n forth bout 100 times...again. It works good..........but don't tell nobody.
  • I'd always heard WD-40 was a big no-no, but followed by a generous dousing of D5? Hmmmm...might hafta try that! It's kinfa funny how stiff the new CTS pots are compared to what's in my good ol' '76...
  • Yeah elreclusa, I always heard the same, thats why I use the DeoxIT D5 after the fact. Been doing it for years n haven't had problems yet.

  • Three Campy Teles still for sale at Wildwood guitars.
  • There were four, but I snagged one on layaway. Only a year to go before it's paid off. Sigh . . .
  • This guitar is the AXE to the guitar gods of the world.. I`d be happy to have the chance to even play this beautiful piece.. it would be a great Number 1! :)!
  • Wildwood has a review of it on Youtube. Greg Koch does the review.
