Rutters stainless steel saddles - brighter than brass?

edited March 2012 in General
hi there,
elreclusa mentioned in the baja-thread that he is using rutters stainless steel saddles. maybe someone else does - how would you describe their tonal characteristics? are the rutter stainless steel saddles brighter than fenders stock brass ones? or do they get close to them? Supposing we're all after the fabulous "campy-tone", I guess you won't use the rutters if they would sound too harsh or bright...?
Thanks and kind regards

  • On my Baja, the Rutters are maybe just a smidge brighter, but it's not a huge difference- I think the guitar as a sum total of parts makes it more or less bright than the saddles alone. That said, it does sound, to my ears, a little clearer, and feels like the Rutters may be allowing the Baja to sorta "breathe" a bit more. Most importantly, though, the intonation is MUCH better. They also look really nice! It doesn't hurt that Marc Rutters is a pleasure to deal with, either, really nice fella.
