59 reissue bridge

edited April 2012 in General
Is it possible to purchase the redesigned bridge on it's own? I've been looking but it seems difficult to find a top loader without the ashtray edges. Thanks for any help in advance.

Best,

Scott

  • Once in a while actual Fender toploader bridges pop up on ebay, but rarely the "vintage" style, and I've yet to see one sans lips. On the plus side, a regular one is $13 from most retailers. If you're handy with a drill and a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, it's a fairly easy mod, just remember, measure twice and cut once! Alternately, you could take it to a luthier. My guy charged $30ish to drill holes and de-lip one for me. You still have the through-body holes that way, but if you can live with that, it's easy!
  • Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of making it a DIY project. I have a bridge that is working fine but there always seems to be something to tweak if you let your mind wonder. Thanks again.

  • Dremel away! I did this to the bridge on my Baja, and the combo of chunkyish neck and toploader slinkiness is pretty great. Good luck!
  • I bet Glendale will make you one. They've got a top loader that's a no cut, but I don't see why he wouldn't help ya out. Of course, a DIY on this would seem fairly straightforward if ya got the skills (of which I don't, which is why I have a Glendale double cut on mine)
