A hunger for Jimmie Rivers knowledge... especially aimed at Jim!!
Hi guys,
So after discovering Mr. Campilongo around 4 years ago, I also started to explore his influences and they have really inspired me and become some of my all time favourites... Jimmie Rivers especially. He's right up there now with my old favourites Django and Charlie Christian, (and of course Campy himself who is like the perfect combination of all these guys plus much, much more.)
Anyway, I'm eager to learn more about Mr. Rivers… everything and anything… from him licks, to his gear, to his second and extremely hard to come by LP "free & easy" which I have been searching for high and low for over 2 years now! I'm so eager to hear it, but doubt I ever will!
I read one of Jim's posts on the telecaster forum and he mentioned having a few lessons with Jimmie and that they are on a cassette someplace. I'd love to know even one snippet or lick from those lessons. Aswell as purchasing Jim's lessons on Jimmie Rivers, I've also transcribed a large majority of the songs from Brisbane Bop but am struggling to fully understand and apply the licks in my own playing.
Anything that sheds some light on this bop/western swing sound would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone has a line on a copy of that "free & easy" LP, I'd pay good money for it!!!
Jim, if you could chime in with anything on this subject, I'd be a happy man indeed.
Thanks in advance,
Xan
