The 180 gram vinyl is dense, heavy, absolutely flat and dead quiet. The transluscent orange color just looks cool rotating on the turntable platter (sure beats the cold, impersonal digital display of the CD player). And of course having liner notes you can actually read is one of the much-missed benefits of the LP format.
I’ll continue to play Jim’s Orange CD when it’s more convenient to do so, or when I want to pick and choose which cuts to hear, or when I just want to hit the shuffle button and enjoy whatever songs come up. But when I want to sit back and experience the “in person” presentation of Orange, it’s the LP for me.
Here’s hoping that more of Jim’s back catalog is released on vinyl!
