Princeton Reverb for HOME practice? (it's loud!)
Just wondering if alot of folks here who have various Princetons, if they have much trouble using them at home? Especially the guys who like to get the dirt from the amp? I know the PR is considered a "low wattage" amp, but we all know it's plenty loud...
Just wondering, do you simply turn down and deal with the drop in gain?
Or leave the amp cranked up and use the guitar volume to control overall volume, again just dealing with gain drop?
Or use an attenuator or dirt box to get drive at lower volumes?
And I'm not talking "bedroom volume" here- I quit chasing that a long time ago (with tubes amps- the SS modeling amps like the GDEC are fantastic for this).- I turn up pretty loud at home, not gig volume, but certainly loud enough the entire house, and maybe even a few neighbors, can tell I'm playing.

Having said that I just recently swapped my v1 from the Groove Tubes Sovtek to a Tung-Sol. There is a bit more bite on it now but it would still be really darn loud to get what I'd call dirt from the amp alone.
I wouldn't be looking for more dirt than the PRRI can provide on 10.
I'm asking this stuff because I think I finally want to get a PRRI, but no on locally has them "we're not stocking amps over $500 because they're not selling".. Sure, I could drive someplace further away, and surely will, this is just part of my preliminary research.
And it sounds really sweet with the right tube/bias
