Recording techniques

Hey Jim! I was hoping you could lay out some recording techniques/tips as far as how you approach your recorded tone. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. IMO your recorded tone has improved with each album and on Orange it's stunning. It's big and warm and full of live character.

Amp placement? Mic placements? One mic? Multiple mics? More/less/no reverb vs. your live setup? Etc etc.

    This is such a good question I'm looking for a Stereophile article that came out in 2010 or 2011 that covered recording... can't seem to find it...
