Live Recordings & Levy/Campilongo?

edited April 2011 in General
Jim,

Just wondering if you've ever thought about recording your shows at the Living Room and putting the recordings up for sale? Maybe pick out your favorite. I know a lot of people have wanted a live album from you. Attach a recording device up to an output of the mixing counsel and hit record, minimal editing, separate the tracks, put them up at $9.99 or so an "album"? Seen a lot of bands doing this, Just a thought :)

Also, has there been any talk about you and Adam Levy doing a Duo album?

Thanks for all of your music, it is truly inspiring to me! Looking forward to the new Willies album.

  • Thanks Aaron - if it was up to me I'd make three records a year!

All that said, I limit myself to a Campilongo record every two years because I have nine CD's under my own name already...

There's no shortage of music - off the top of my head ... We have recorded 25 hours of live Trio at the Living Room, I have two complete sessions of Steve Cardenas and myself, a recorded live show with Nels Cline, bootlegs galore and extra tracks that weren't included on the nine Campy records... but making music is the easy part.

The good news is we are discussing and planning my next record presently- and hopefully Adam Levy and I can include a track or two. Additionally it looks like the Willies will be finishing up recording in May and then final mixing in July. I have no guess on a release date but I'm very excited about this new Willies record.

Again, thanks for asking-I really appreciate your interest in my music. Take care. -Jim
  • Is any of the live stuff available right now? Or sitting waiting? The Nels stuff sounds cool, he's another one of my favorites.

    Thanks again!
  • Keep us posted, Jim! Always a pleasure to write up your records. I'd love to hear the stuff with Nels too!
  • Thanks so much ...
  • Looking very much forward to the new Willies record!
  • I just found this forum. So it's really happening; a new Willies record! That's great news! I thought I heard a hint at 2:50 in this video clip six months ago:

I might actually travel all the way from Europe to the US if the Willies are going to play some gigs when the record is out. I hope any concerts will be announced? (kind of "secret" the gigs earlier this year...)
  • Just a reminder that Jim did record a live album, the delectable "LIVE at the Du Nord". On it, the phenomenal Rob Burger plays accordian and piano/organ and if you've never heard him, seek him out. (Also Scott Amendola and Jon Evans lay down the groove and they are no slouches.) It was a wonderful phase of Jim's music - between The Ten Gallon Cats and his move to New York. Thank you, Mr. Campilongo!
