new guy from Virginia

hey all. I'm new here, but not new to Mr Campilongo's brilliant works. Been a fan since the late 90's. have many of his albums. I won one of his lessons back in the day from an early TDPRI sweeps. I need to dig that one up. Something from "Loose" I believe.

Anyhow, I've always just been a rock guitar guy and played for many years, but hung it all up back in '08. Didn't even own a guitar again until 2 months ago when I picked up a used Tele (always my fav guitar). Bought Dream Dictionary and Orange. and bought Jim's "Nailing the changes" lesson which I hashed out in Feb. loved it! still need to nail those full-to-1/2 step bends near the end. they're tricky.

purchased "Bb Jazz Blues" last night and will work on it over the next month or so. And if I get to NYC next month I hope to finally catch Jim live. something I've been wanting to do for quite some time.

love the forum.

    Hi Hal -
Thanks for ordering the lessons and welcome!
  • Welcome Hal, and thanks for sharing your story about getting back into guitar! Interestingly, I was strictly a "rock guy" on guitar until I happened upon Jim playing a show at The Living Room in NYC a few years ago. I was instantly hooked on his music and became an avid follower. Orange was my first JC album but now own all of em. Over the course of the last few years I have taken over a dozen Lessons by Mail (including B flat blues and nailing the changes) and am always amazed at the instant and notable progress in my playing all attributable to Jim's teaching style. Really getting into some "jazzy" sounding stuff lately as well. All still a shock to my garage rock band. But we're all having fun with it. Hope you have a great experience with the lessons and here on the forum! And let us know when u come to NY. Always cool meeting other people on the forum.
    Happy Playing,
    CJ
