last nights show at Bar 55

Awesome stuff last night!! really was diggin' the pedal steel that Jonnie was playing and the brush work on drums was so tasteful. As always the tone coming out of Jim's tele/princeton was amazing. Thanks for an incredible night of music!! Hopefully you guys raised some $ for Gwyneth Paltrow, I am sure she needs some coin after all the lawyers fees associated with "conscious uncoupling"

Jim thanks for again for a great evening...

I was there too, yet another configuration of Honeyfingers, just Jonny and Jim along with David on bass and Russ on drums. almost didnt make it due to 3 separate fires on the railroad tracks! we had to go 15 mph with no air conditioning, peeps were freakin...anyway a fantastic show they really picked up where they left off last time I saw them. A couple new tunes and as reported above, the double-neck pedal steel guitar was in the house (no lap steel). The pedal steel was super lush and thick and juicy. the lap steel has a more wide open tone. Jonny Lam sure has mastered the art of playing both of them. not sure what constitutes one versus the other, but they both sound incredible. Tonight Jim's trio is at Rockwood. planning to hit that however, keeping my distance from the Long Island Rail Road (driving instead)
  • i certainly do NOT miss my days (6 years worth) commuting on the LIRR. or LI traffic.
  • the LIRR train is THE WORST. is worse now than it has ever been, ever. it had to go 15 mph with no air conditioning the whole time from Cold Spring Harbor. jumped on the 1 train at Penn/34th street...I have never been so happy to be inside a subway! but driving there on a Sunday sucks too. (thats how i wound up on the LIRR train, which I rarely ride. ) Honeyfingers is epic though so in the end it all balances out. is going to take a lot more than 3 brush fires on the train tracks to keep me away
