Campilongo Does Noir

edited August 2014 in Root

I was thinking about the massive noir/pulp crime novel reprint frenzy back in the '90's, which rekindled fanatic devotion to the noir masters. With specific thanks to Knopf's Vintage Crime Black Lizard series, suddenly Jim Thompson's brand of "Panhandle Noir" was in every Borders bookstore for all to devour in the final throes of the 20th century.

This trove happens to need a soundtrack, and the contributors to this esteemed forum know the perfect artist to take up such a project. I had to bring this up, 'cuz I see the trajectory. It's right there... "Pop. 1280" with the Campilongo treatment.

Cheers, Jim.

  • ...a re-viewing of the great Thompson-Kubrick effort, "The Killing" prompted the idea in the first place, combined with your recent swing out to Hollywood.
I'd be really surprised to hear that you haven't been approached for a film "soundscape."

(it's been ages since Neil Young did "Dead Man")
