Picks
So after watching enough Jim Campilongo videos on youtube, I finally decided to try out the little jazz picks (extra heavy, Fender, white). It's the first time I've not bought the green (or yellow) tortex picks in decades.
The jury is still out, but it's only been a couple days. In general, I think I like them. So far I've noticed that with these new picks
- the tone is a lot better when picking closer to the bridge (I think that's objective)
- I feel a little quicker in my picking, a little more nimble (that's probably in my head)
- I'm not dropping them as I expected.
Anyone else want to share thoughts about picks? Are most people on the jazz picks already, or is this the exception? (None of my guitar-playing friends use them, so they seem unusual to me.)

The tone is objectively different. I subjectively like it better.
I never got up to the 1.0mm picks. I do remember starting on red tortex (!) and then graduating up the colors, but stopped at Green. Never blue or purple.
The thing I've noticed about jazz picks is that a lot of my guitar playing friends seem to scoff at them at first. But after trying them for a week or so, most of them seem to get hooked.
I'm not sure exactly why I seem to play better with them. Maybe this sounds crazy, but it seems like having a smaller pick forces me to be more accurate. YMMV.
