Josh Dion (and pro musicians)

edited October 2014 in Root
I've been following Jim for quite a while now. Since the myspace days. One of my favorite things about Jim is all the other cool musicians I end up finding through him. There's a whole "local" scene on the other side of the country that I feel somewhat connected to because I've been following them for so long. Adam Levy, Jesse Harris, Norah Jones, Lee Alexander, Richard Julian, etc etc. Lately I've been diving into lap steel pretty hard so I've been devouring Honeyfingers videos and Jonny Lam licks.

Anyway, one of those great musicians I discovered through Jim is Josh Dion. I stumbled upon this video of him with some other pros working out a cover song. I found it pretty fascinating and thought some of you might enjoy it, too. It's absolutely amazing to someone like me that people can be this talented.

  • I completely agree! I found so many great musicians through Jim. Yes, Josh Dion is amazing and so is Chris Morrisey, whose solo work is fantastic in its own right. Josh's duo with Geoff Kraly - Paris Monster - is beyond belief. If you don't know it, do yourself a favor and check these guys out! Tony Scherr is also worth mentioning - one of my favorite guitarists/composers. Another one of my faves is Glenn Patscha. I just LOVE this song:

  • I finally got around to watching the first video. Josh is a really talented dude. I especially enjoyed the first part of the video where the guys are working through the chords to get the arrangement right. Thank you for sharing that.
