Some questions for Jim

edited May 2015 in Root
Hi Jim,
first of all let me thank you for being such an inspiring musician. You made me discover a whole Telecaster world! Not to mention Princeton Reverbs!
I'm really enjoying Sonic Tele and American Hips these days.
I'd like to ask you a few questions if you don't mind:
- Did you ever have shielding problems with your Teles? What about the single ply pickguard?
- Is it possibile to know how much does your 59 tele aproximately weights?
- Could you tell which material do you prefer for the guitar's nut?
- Have you tried recent Telecaster in production that you found particularly good sounding?
I think that's more than enough. Hope to see you play in Italy soon!
All the best and many thanks
GIANNI

Hi Gianni - Thanks for your email and I apologize for the delay in responding- I've been preoccupied and a little busy. Here are the answers, formatted from your inquiry...

    - Did you ever have shielding problems with your Teles? What about the single ply pickguard?

reverse polarity pick up (magnets repelled from each other) - for middle pick up refuge in buzzy/no grounding environments and some shielding- I do nothing else

    - Is it possibile to know how much does your 59 tele aproximately weights?

    6 lbs

    - Could you tell which material do you prefer for the guitar's nut?

I thought it was dinosaur bone but I'm told that's not what it is -but it's some kind of bone...

    - Have you tried recent Telecaster in production that you found particularly good sounding?

No, basically I play my own guitars

I think that's more than enough. Hope to see you play in Italy soon!

    I hope so too
  • Thanks a lot for your kind reply, Jim.
And, by the way, one last thing... Just would like to let you know that my guitar features a real dinosaur bone nut! ;-)
    Gianni
  • Gianni - I hope it's brontosaurus! ha ha
  • Good grief, your Tele only weighs six pounds Jim? That's really light!
