What to bring to the gig?

edited April 2013 in General
I recently got offered to play a solo gig once a week at one of my favorite restaurants.

As I began to prepare my tunes and gear I realized I have no backup amp, what if something goes wrong?

Anyone have recommendations on what to do (I can't afford a spare amp). I got an extra set of tubes, a backup tele and lots of strings. Any other bits I advice?

  • Don't worry so much - unless you are on tour, or playing Carnegie Hall, one amplifier that has been recently serviced will invade and conquer!
You are a fine solo guitarist Corey - have fun and spread some soul.
  • Hey Corey
Break a leg! Also, I was just wondering, if you didn't mind my asking. What type of material you use on your solo gigs? and if you use a looper.
  • The material is varied. A handful of jazz standards that I like, lots of country and chet/travis stuff.

I try my best when learning new tunes to come up w solo arrangements without the looper that are complete and can stand alone.

That being said, I use a boss looper for progressions and a dl4 for layering and sound effects. They help fill up more time and make it fun to solo

Check out my YouTube channel if your interested, its a mix of looper and non looper stuff.
  • You sound great on that version of freight train Corey. I'm inspired!
