Tasteful notice (hopefully): SIGNED Limited Edition ORANGE Princeton RI

edited April 2013 in General
Super nice amp. I've just found that I'm an AC15 man primarily.

Figured a fellow Campy fan would enjoy having this. I met him when he came to town a few months ago. He did a guitar workshop (WOW) before the concert. He was nice enough to sign the amp for me.

If I had the cash, I'd have bought it a week ago. Just caught me at a bad time. :( If it's still around after a little while, I'll take it. I'm buying a new amp soon, and the Princeton was at the top of my list. Would much prefer your orange one to the 2-tone or stock ones.

Do you have a layaway plan? ;)
  • Hadn't really thought about that, but I'm open to ideas. I'd much prefer this to go to a fellow Campy fan.

What do you have in mind, and what kind of timetable are we talking? FYI, I check back here as often as I remember...but direct email might be faster. But either is OK.
  • I just bought this amp from Jim (superbadj). I won't have it for a couple weeks yet, but I'm psyched to get it, and break the speaker in... then probably experiment with a couple others until I find the "right" one for me. I've been wanting a Princeton for awhile, and I really wanted one of the Orange LTDs (not the 2-tone orange one Fender is now selling), and to get one signed my Jim himself, one of my all-time favorite players, is just icing on the cake.

Does anyone know how many of these Fender made? For some reason, I want to say I remember reading somewhere it was 50?

I was really happy to read your post- I'm not sure how many Fender made but it's around 50-100 I think. I do know when I asked for another, they were out! Maybe there is a Fender Amp forum ?
  • There are TWO Fender forums, actually...

the older, more visited, UN-offical one: www.fenderforum.com

    the newer, Fender-owned one: http://forums.fender.com/

The older, unofficial one (officially named the Fender Discussion Pages) is the one where all the guys with the vintage experience and info hang out.
  • Congrats on your new amp! I love the look of the orange Princeton and having is signed by Jim is a bonus.

If I hadn't just found a Princeton locally (after a long time looking) I would have been sorely tempted to have jumped on the offer myself when it first appeared.

I am glad a Campy fan got it.

Thanks to Jim (superbadj) for a great transaction... and a great amp. Love it! It was in virtually new condition- the speaker still needs some serious pummeling to break in, and I've been doing my best over this past week... it's already improved some. Might go for a Celestion G10 or a Weber 10F150 (C10N) in the future, but will live with this Jensen awhile and make sure it's good and loose before changing anything.

The stock tubes were actually pretty good... all Electro-Harmonix (altho relabeled as GTs), I did go ahead and have some other 6V6s sent to try... they'll arrive tomorrow.

And, despite MANY "internet forum gurus" who claim you're "playing with fire" at a bias anything above 25, I went ahead and cranked 'em up to 30. Made sure they weren't red plating and I wasn't getting any strange overtones/distortion... bias at 30 made quite a difference and warming the amp up, gives the tone more body, sounds great.

This is my 1st Fender blackface, and now I understand what all the hoopla is about...
  • Hey man!

Glad the amp is working out. And thanks to ruger9 for a great, very easy transaction. Happy to drop it off to a fellow Campy fan. I always took care of that amp...so I'm glad it's in good hands now.
