Chelsea Bridge?

I wonder if you've ever considered a Chelsea Bridge lesson? One of my favorite tunes (Lush Life is another). Strayhorn's music is beautiful and I love your arrangement.

  • Thank you so much! Haven't thought of it until now.
  • I think that ballad playing is often overlooked, but can be the most moving music both to play and hear. What I really like in your arrangement is that I think that you capture the essence of Strayhorn's musical vision. It's very moving (and this isn't a case of flattery trying to get me anywhere!).

  • found a small-to-medium stash of Campy vids on my computer last night. this was one of them

  • Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
  • What's that little chord thrown in with the single note stuff at around 0:34? I 've heard Jim use that in other spots and it always sounds cool.
  • Sorry for bumping an old thread but I just stumbled across this wonderful video of Ben Webster's quintet's fantastic version of this wonderful song. I am learning this song right now and along with Jim's rendition this is now my main reference for going through the chord changes and improvisation ideas. It starts at 9:24 (even though the whole video is worth watching!):
