"I've been looking into learning this for the holidays coming up (Old Toy Trains too), and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any major technical differences in Jim's approach compared to the Don Rich classic? Buck Owens original recording was in Eb, and supposedly Rich tuned a half step down. Jim's is in D, and I'm wondering if Jim tuned a whole step down, and played it the way Rich did (minus the obvious harmonic bends and such). There are a few Campy signature moves in his version, but to me the "Almost Christmas" rendition sounds pretty close to the original. However you look at it, a very nice tribute. If Jim or anyone would chime in, I'd appreciated it. Thank you".
All the best- Jim
