Rockwood show and the new Dream Dictionary CD

edited December 2013 in Root
title pretty much says it all. The band was in auto pilot the whole time and so was my camera. I bought the new CD Dream Dictionary and it is just perfect and nasty in ways that can't be described. All of Jim's tones and the band's songs are just so dialed in. There is one acoustic song which was a nice surprise. Norah Jones sings one song which is one of their very best together.

Here is footage of the show. The audio starts clipping out for a minute or 2 around the 7 minute mark or so (that is not exact, but approximate), when the one cymbol really crashes. the rest of the recording seems fine.

Edit: Taking a closer listen now, the video does not sound quite as good on YouTube as it does on my hard drive. I have decided to lock it for editing and see if I can fix it. Here is a video of the opening tune "Heaven is Creepy" which was fantastic. The new album "Dream Dictonary" is available on Amazon now and there is a link to it in the video description. (click "show more"). Enjoy!

  • Thank you! Great!! Can't wait to get the CD! BTW Jim, is this your Souldier Strap? Which model is that? All the Best, Roland
  • Thanks a lot for sharing! Videos like this remind me of why I am such a huge fan of Jim! Absolutely beautiful compositions, electric Miles-like improvisations, punk rock chords...and what a band! Josh Dion is a monster! haha I need to go to NY one day and catch this live!
  • Campinout, hope you post the whole show again, regardless of what it sounds like. It's one of the better videos available that shows how loose these guys get during a live show. In a perfect world, there would be unlimited budgets for live cd's by great bands like this. Jim deserves a very Miles-like box set compilation. You know, something like a 6 cd live set (i.e. The Complete Living Room Sessions) where nutty fans like us can get down with 10 different live versions of Heaven is Creepy.

    Campinout-

Thanks so much for posting "Heaven..." And thanks for taking the entire show down per my request. It was a great night but aside from the sound issues, I try to keep entire shows from being posted. I hope anyone interested understands - and any interest means very much to me and I'm grateful for it.

That version of "Heaven..." is a good one. Campinout- thanks again!

    All the best- Jim

  • Roland -
That is a Souldier Strap but I can't recall the name. I do recall admiring the Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Church Glass styles. There is a link at the top of the forum homepage to the Souldier website and I'm sure you'll find it there. They have a multitude of choices and the straps are well constructed.
    All the best- Jim
  • Thanks Jim for being so cool about the videos. Everyone should know this venue in particular has been way cool about recording and sharing videos, as have the bands. You're really not supposed to post an entire uncut show like that, which I pretty much knew already. Jim's shows are just so blistering I need other people to witness what I have witnessed! anyway there are plenty of other fantastic Campy videos on this playlist:

as well as elsewhere on YouTube

and here's a couple others from the new album if you missed them

  • have to say also the CD Dream Dictionary is so amazing it more than makes up for the crappy live recording from the show. It sounds unreal! Turn it up loud!!! dime it!
  • Thanks for the "Heaven" clip campinout. Holy s#&t! You boys are cookin' Jim!
  • Hoping there will be a vinyl release also next year.
