new member takes on Bb Blues and Lazy River lessons..next up: Rivers or Bryant?
Greetings all,
I discovered Jim's lesson site a few weeks ago and took the plunge! Every couple of years my playing heads off into a new direction and at the moment I am on a western swing kick and have been really into the Rivers and Bryant thing..which led me to Jim's lessons. I decided to start a bit smaller, first with the Lazy River lesson and following with the Bb Blues. There is quite a bit to like about the Bb (and I notice it has many great reviews on the forum). As for Lazy River, its a fantastic lesson. Not only as a pretty melody to learn, but its just a great exercise and teaching vehicle. Highly, highly recommended!
The thing that is really great about these lessons, is that the material Jim presents is sort of the tip of the iceberg....the licks are begging to be transposed, played as different shapes, or turned on their heads. Very inspiring!
Not sure of my next move...head straight for a Bryant or Rivers lesson..or try something of broader appeal..perhaps the F Blues or Rockabilly. Nice to have choices!

Have to say, I love the idea of the Cat Under a Car lesson, too. I was in a surf band for a while and become very interested getting more jazz into my playing..seemed like noir was the answer. Would love to see more lessons in that area!
BTW, just checked out you trailer for the Truefire course...great tune (and Bryant inspired, I think?)..will that be covered? Very nice!!
Unless I'm confused by your request, "Cat Under a Car" is offered as a lesson...
Cat Under A Car (from American Hips - Note for Note) Harmonics supporting lead lines, minor key embellishments and more - Gives the student insights into "noir guitar" Intermediate / Advanced

Feel that I should have limited my first thread to western swing/blues lessons..again, I wish there were more hours in the day!
