NYC recomendations
Hi amigos!
Next month I will travel to NYC with my family (wife and daughter)
Of course I gone see Jim show in Rockwood (twice, I hope) .....AMAZING!
I also want to buy a vintage guitar. Please recommend my guitar shops in NYC (second hand guitars).
Any other NYC recommendation is welcome.

I just learned, there's actually 2:
The original:
169 W 48th St
New York, NY
(212) 391-1699
Rudy's Soho:
461 Broome St
New York, NY
(212) 625-2557
I played the grand opening of Rudy's Soho a few years back and it was absolutely worth a visit- but it was more a display of holy grail pieces. One thing I like about Southside is despite covering a large gamut of guitar history - they also have desirable pieces that mere mortals can afford - ha ha!
I like Main Drag Guitars too... Brooklyn.
Also Ludlow Guitars is right around the corner from Jim's show at Rockwood music hall, if you are going to be right there it can't hurt to see what they have. There are a few others in the area but as Jim said, we would basically be directing you to some of the most expensive guitar shops on the planet. What kind of guitar are you looking for?
I am a Fender big fan......but this time I am loocking for an old Gibson jazz guitar....Maybe a 175 or a 225.

If you're looking for an "old" guitar, another place that is probably worth the effort (it's in Staten Island, which is a ferry ride away), is Mandolin Brothers. The used market is their specialty. Sort of like a Gruhn's (Nashville), but in NYC.

The weather should be perfect. Even though it would take more then a lifetime to do and see all that is here , I would be happy to suggest the things I love doing here. Above all, my favorite thing to do in every city is WALK. New York is a great city for this so bring some comfy shoes!
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a must.
A walk on Mott St from Houston St (pronounced How-stun here) the full length until it ends at Chatham Square is a great way to see Chinatown. Do the same way back one block over on Mulberry and see Little Italy and more.
Joe's Shanghai on Pell St(off Mott) has good Chinese food with a fun chaotic NY Chinatown ambience
A hamburger at the "Corner Bistro" in the West Village (8 Ave at Jane St?). A great NY burger served in a fun, funky bar
Visit Grand Central Station. Beautiful, bustling. Overpriced shops.
Times Square at night.
Free audience tickets for Letterman-Saturday Night Live etc etc are an option but need to be ordered in advance. I've been to both shows and seeing the SNL stagehands make set changes was awe inspiring.

Also one of my favorite restaraunts to eat at is the very reasonably priced"Mooncake." There is one in SOHO but also one on 30th St. near 8th Ave, and right across 30th Street is another guitar shop "30th Street Guitars." Again their prices are typical for New York but everything is negotiable to some extent. Mooncake is closed on Sundays though.
Thanks a lot.
