Thanks Jim. I should have recognized freaky dreiky. That is a long list of songs, would be great if you had 2 sets at Rockwood to play them all. I guess u have all that time at rodeo. I know that venue can be a mixed crowd but I think this may be the week it all comes together over there. I will try to make it.

hope some of you can make it to Rodeo on Friday or Rockwood next week (hope I can make it myself!) cheers
  • Nice to see that Jim is still playing the 59, although he's got a signature and the Hahn. Thank you very much for the videos campinout.

that's some fantastic stuff! thanks campinout!

I'd love to hear "Rooted Like a Tree" live. that's a been a long time fav.
"Sergio vs the Moth" would be extra sweet too.

  • If anyone gets a chance to check out Jim and the Honeyfingers at Barbes, don’t miss it. Barbes is almost like a secret speakeasy bar, blink and you’ll miss it. The back room where they play is small and intimate. Very relaxed environment, everyone but the bass player plays seated. To a person, they are all amazing virtuoso musicians. You get the feeling you are in the presence of something really special. An “official” recording would be most welcome!

    Hi Campinout-

Thanks so much for your support and enthusiasm -You are also a great presence here...

Freaky Dreike is mistakenly called My Baby's Coming Home

In my opinion - the only songs worth posting on the internet are "My Baby's Coming Home" (I remember that was a good one) and "Last Night, This Morning"

  • Sorry Jim to mix up the song titles, I confess I was multi tasking at the time, but also may actually be legitimately confused on one or 2. Will figure it out and fix it this evening. I can remove the other videos as well, although once I figure out which song is which, I may have to disagree with your critique...(but I am no critic!)

I am planning to attend the show tonight but do not intend to record video or audio for the vast majority of the show, quite possibly will record none at all. It is a difficult venue for that, I may be with a group, and to be honest my camera is a bit on the schitz and sometimes does not work properly. Thanks for being cool about the recordings and sharing of them, Jim. One thing kind of led to another with my camera (which was originally purchased for a ski trip over 3 years ago, and I was going to return the camera after the trip!). Anyway my approach has been if everything gets recorded, there will be many keepers within those recordings. Has worked out nice from a fan perspective but may give it a rest in hopes of an official Honeyfingers release sooner than later

I'd like to hear "My Baby's Coming Home". It's a new one...
    no rush

I can live with all the others not being on the net, but it's no big deal and I appreciate you recording and posting...

    See you later brother! Thanks

looks like I just had Freaky Dreike and My Baby's Coming Home mixed up. not sure how I arrived at that end. But that makes a lot more sense because I knew I had heard the real Freaky Dreiky previously (that is the one that sounds like Nang Nang's evil twin!)

Hey guys. The show at Rodeo Bar last night was phenomenal! I'd not been in that place since '93 and it hadn't changed a bit.

JIM. It was a dream to finally see you work your magic live. And the band was great. I'm glad I got to meet you too.

It was also a pleasure to meet fellow fans Campinout and CJ!

    -- Hal (from Virginia)
  • Hal - Considering there was a rainstorm and a downbeat of 10:30pm- it was a terrific night of music and great audience. Meeting you was a pleasure and the Campy Forum was in the house!

Thanks for everything and hope to meet up soon.

    All the best- Jim
  • Great show last night as Jim and the band were really feeling the chemistry. Lots of crowd dancing and a couple tourists super luce on the sauce. Standard operating procedures for the Rodeo Bar the way it should be. Jim you really have the perfect band to play there. "3 guitars country style" (sometimes 4) what can be better than that for an old cowboy bar? Hal, great to meet you, and you certainly picked the right day to visit New York. I didn't bring my camera out in the heavy rains, so therefore no recordings- but still curious to see a setlist if one is available. A couple of my friends that were there are serious music fans and were blown away with your west coast/Mexicali tones. They are talking about hitting Rockwood on Monday. I told them there is a steel guitar player for that show but I don't think they really understand how it will be to see that band in that room. Not sure I will be there myself but certainly not ruling it out. It will be an epic face melter by every stretch of the imagination. cheers!
  • I got caught in that rainstorm and was absolutely soaked, but I managed to stick it out for a set before deciding to head back to the hotel for some dry clothes.
