Ernest Ranglin Rides Again

edited May 2014 in Root

Hey All -

In a thread somewhere in the past I recollect a reference from Jim or someone to "What would Ernest Ranglin do?" and his place in the guitar pantheon.

I saw this morning and am listening now to a New York Times "Press Play" full preview of Ranglin's new record that will be released on the 20th. It's fun stuff, jazzy ska/reggae tunes. Nothing heavy, just good music that will put a smile on your face and a possible case of happy feet. The link to the NYT Arts section that allows streaming of the entire recording is: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/arts/music/pressplay.html?ref=arts.

Tasty stuff from an old lion!

  • Thanks for the link, checking it out now, sounds great so far!

That was me that used the WWERD line, and a couple of weeks ago I got to use it again. I was tracking a fairly new song with a band and experimenting with different parts when the engineer said something about hitting the upbeats, and I said "ahh, what would Ernest Ranglin do?" Then I got to introduce Ranglin to some folks that were not familiar.
  • "WWERD" ha ha ha!

Usually I can't play the conclusion!
