I have a Hank Garland story to share. In 2002 I was at a computer vendor show (I sell computers) and I got to talking to the husband of one of my clients and found out he played guitar so we hit it off. He asks my interests, and then proceeds to tell me he was going to spend the afternoon playing with Hank Garland at his home and invited me to join him. I had told him how I knew many of Hanks songs and worked through some note for note...he was thrilled that someone my age (38 at the time) had this passion. I could not leave the show as I had paid a hefty sum to have my booth there and a responsibility, (yeah I know...in hind sight I should have bolted), but he said we could do it again some other time. A short while after I got a box in the mail with this note, a limited edition boxed CD set and a signed photo from Hank. Even though I did not get to meet him, I got the thrill of knowing that Hank was happy that a youngster remembered him and he still had passionate fans. Hank passed on shortly after this and so did the fella that invited me to join them that day.
