after "Twister" and "Chet Song"...

edited September 2014 in Root
I needed a change of pace after the two lessons above. "Twister" is just so much fun! and I am getting smoother at it every time I play it. I've not mastered it yet, but it's getting there. "Chet Song" is still a work in progress for me. it has so much goodness in it, but I've yet to get the whole thing gelling... far from it. but I'll keep chipping away at it.

so for something a little different I went with "Country Soul Guitar." Just really got started. a nice easy going beautiful piece with lots of fun, classy licks in it. will be fun to play this for my lady when I have it mastered.

  • I listened to "Country Soul Guitar" after you ordered it- and I might start playing that publicly. Anyway, thanks for ordering the lessons and I'm glad your happy.

    All the best- Jim

  • Country Soul is one of the first lessons I learned. I jam on it with my band. It's a nice progression and certainly a stellar piece of music that goes far beyond just a vehicle for instruction. I was trying to think of players who play in that style (country wise), but couldn't really come up with anyone. Maybe Roy Buchanan? To me it's like country Hendrix.
  • Thanks Clyde - I like "country Hendrix" and I agree- I think it's a bit "Buchanan-like" too... with that Ab it's a bit "Messiah Will Come Again-ish"

Jim, You inspired me to re-inspire you. haha. terrific!

yeah this is just a sweet little number. Did the 2nd section tonight.

I love when I start seeing new patterns and relationships of notes that I never thought of before. the building of tension and then resolve. and their relationship to the chord structure. things that seemed out of reach for years and now come into focus.

"The Messiah will Come Again" is a great track!

    That's what it's all about.

    Thank you!
