  • He Jim,
Why not the Netherlands ... after Finland ;-)

  • Hey, why not Hell-sinki, while you are at it. :D

I might go out Campying to Salo (the town that used to make most of the mobile phones in the world, but now... well they are trying to get into the Jazz fest business, I guess?) ... I haven't missed a Finnish tour yet, I am proud to add. :)

  • No you haven't Weelie- wasn't it 2003 when we met? Didn't your friend marry a woman he met at the show?
  • And why not Southern France? :-)
  • Good thing Jim keeps coming back to Finland. Spread the word and let's fill the venues. Hopefully southern France will wake up too (sympathies, Claude)... I will try to make it to Uusikaupunki show.
  • Thanks for the nice post Vanne- I look forward to meeting you! All the best- Jim

Hey, I just posted a video on Tube from yesterday's gig in Finland. Great show, thanks Jim! Band played fantastic, too. Great sound throughout. There was a minor issue with folks taking flash photos, but Jim handled it very well. However if he doesn't want that bit to be there on the video, I'll edit it out.

(is there a way to embed videos here?)
  • Hi Jim,

when i read the last email i first thougt "Finnland" - "sure, that must be a typing error, the photo was taken in Prague, so maybe he's comming to Prague again :-)". But unfortuntely Hard luck! - no typing error at all.

  • Thanks, Vanne! I sadly was not there... Went to a tennis club doubles event and Steve James gig that night here in Espoo/Helsinki instead. Cannot win them all, no warp power available to me, nobody to beam up to Salo... Plus I found nobody to join me for the ride...

It was a great rip and the band played great! One nice perk this trip was seeing the "Autumn Leaves". We had a few long drives and the colors were absolutely amazing! Generally, I'm not a nature guy and generally prefer large cities, room service etc (ha ha) - but I felt grateful that my music brought me to a place I would have never been otherwise. It was breathtaking to see what nature does.
    Take care- Jim
  • Thank You Jim for visiting in Vaasa. It was very nice to meet You. Here's one pic from Vaasa!

  • Okay, here is a short report from Vaasa Doobop jazzclub 3.10.2014.
For me this was first time when I saw JIm live. Atmosphere in the jazzclub was good. Dark, bluesy lights on stage. This was JIm's third show to Vaasa, Doobop ever. -no fights this time...
The show started at 10:00 pm, two sets, with his '59 tele and Deluxe Reverb.
Opening song was "Jim's Blues". And here's few: "Twister", "Moneky In The Movie", "Cry Me A River", "The Past Is Looking Brighter", "Manic Depression"...and so on...
It was pure JIm with good energy. I enjoyed those tele sounds and moods JIm creates with his '59 guitar. The drummer and bass did good job too with their own solos.
All in all two sets went too fast and the last note(s) Jim left for us was that harmonics bend in the end of "When You Wish Upon A Star". Which was encore.
After the show JIm did some marketing stuff. I bought Orange vinyl and he signed my JC-tele too. Very nice from him. I've already downloaded Sonic Tele, Orange, Dream Dictionary, Almost Christmas and few lessons.
As a non-professional player to see, to hear, to meet JIm was huge boost for my playing and now it's time do some lessons.
