Django Reinhardt Compilation?
Hi Jim, you mentioned in your Sonic Tele video that Django Reinhardt was one of your influences. Is there a good record or compilation of his music you could recommend? There are too many out there and a lot of them in very poor sound quality. I recently discovered Django after I found out that he is also one of Willie Nelson's favorite guitar players and Willie Nelson mentioned in a video that you had described his playing as "Django with one finger"!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks for your recommendation. What are your favorite recordings or eras of Django? Some time ago I only knew his name but then I saw Willie Nelson playing some of Django's tunes in concert in Deadwood, SD and I knew I had to find out more about him. And almost every player I like seems to have been influenced by him: Chet Atkins, Jimmy Bryant, Jimmy Wyble, Les Paul, Whit Smith and you, too. Some years ago I even bought a double bass from a Mr Reinhardt whose house was full of pictures of Django because he had been a distant relative of Django and now I can enjoy his great music.
I'm not an expert on Django by any means, but I recommend this album:

It's his electric stuff and the sound quality is pretty darn good. I really love his version of Brazil on this.
