Bryant's bounce changes?
Hey jim,I saw a live video of you improvising
Over the changes to Bryant's bounce.
Would you ever consider doing a part two lesson on how to improvise over these changes?
I find those changes extremely difficult to solo on,and what you were doing on that video flowed very nicely.
Thanks

Although,a lesson going over those changes would be great!:)
Sure- I sometimes, though rarely make notating mistakes - those changes are correct.
The chords I notated are the identical changes I use when improvising "Bryant's Bounce" live with Honeyfingers and the theme itself is an arpeggio clearly indicating the chords in the lesson.
Furthermore, Jimmy's solo begins with 6/9 chords etc specifically outlining the notated changes. So, I'm not sure what you are hearing.
The intro chords under Jimmy's arpeggios can be /I V/I V/b6 V/ The first V chord in the intro can also be a ii (Ebm) but I prefer simplifying the intro accompaniment. It's easier to remember, sounds good and we have enough to deal with- especially in the hurricane of dominant 7th chords "Byrant's Bounce" presents us. Your call there.
But we're here to help - and I hope this helps.
Thanks for your post and for buying the lesson. I appreciate it.
Have a great day- Jim
Thanks for your immediate reply. Good to know that the changes are correct! So it's just me. I have problems to follow the changes after the "Chuck Berry" lick and thought the changes might be different after that lick. So I will try again.
Have a great day too.
But the solo is still a challenge. I don't know if I will ever be able to play it at full speed. Now I will try to improvise over the changes which will be very hard. I am trying to build a repertoire of Western Swing instrumental tunes at the moment so maybe my next lesson will be "Jammin' with Jimmie" which has a lot of licks that could be useful for improvisation.
Thanks again for your support and great lessons!
Have a great day -Jim
