My 68 Custom Princeton in Action…Video

edited May 2015 in Root
Here is my 68 custom Princeton in action at a small gig here in Alberta Canada. I like it. We tried to record the show on a proper device but it got screwed up so we were left only with the camera mics. They actually came out not bad. Not perfect, but it sounds more or less like my rig I think. Very quiet band and my amp sounds like it was turned up (comparing to my SF Vibrolux). No effects, straight into the amp from the tele.
It's my buddy Al's band and this is one of his originals. He's a great roots artist and songwriter. He's playing flat top on this tune but he can play anything with strings and I often put away the tele and do some acoustic bluegrass with him. Please excuse the lack of enthusiasm from the band……It was blazing hot that eve and we hadn't slept for a looong time due to Al's geographical gig booking prowess ;-)

  • Having trouble posting the YouTube link. Heres this one but I'll try to embed it. Not having much luck…anyone know how to embed?

  • Nice tone and paying!!! Were you mixed up/through the PA, or was that just the amp live? I'm asking because the new Custom is supposed to have less headroom than the PRRI, and you have a pretty clean tone there. Almost sounds like the amp MIGHT be breaking up a bit (if you played harder), but you are keeping it controlled (cleaner) with your touch? Nice tone.
  • Thanks Ruger. I'm pretty happy with that little amp. Just the amp no pa. The amp is quite sensitive to touch and guitar volume as breakup is concerned. I find it's perfect for small gigs like that but it's not a loud amp at all.
That particular band also has great volume control, and it was a very small venue. With a heavy handed drummer and a bigger room I have to go through the pa.
  • That's exactly what I thought as well- and yes: your drummer does have excellent volume control!!! I am not used to that lol.
