Country Guitar Book Recommendations

Hi Guys,
I teach guitar and have an older gentleman who is interested in learning some country tunes. I've checked Amazon and nothing really catches my eye. I'm looking for a book that not only has traditional country songs, but offers some educational content as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Mark - For me, that's a tough one. But for great classic tunes one can't go wrong with a Hank Williams songbook.

Thanks for the suggestion. My student is a 76 year old "good 'ol boy" from West Virginia. I'll bet he'd dig some Hank.

I took a lesson with a guy called Chris Hartway who plays in an NYC-based band called The Defibulators. I'm not sure if they are a going concern but he's a great lead player and an especially able accompanist.

He has a Hal Leonard book called 'Play American!' that has lots of good stuff in it that might be helpful.

I think this might be helpful. I went through the whole book years ago. Both songs and educational content pertaining to various styles of country playing.
