Hi Jim! I saw the Video with the Princeton`68 above and the problem with your weak Vibrato ("Is this on?" - lol). If you would like to boost your Vibrato look at this Video here - starts at 1:00.
I just picked one up today and really like it. I tried it out in store a few times and sprung on it. Around 4-5 it gets a very satisfying just-breaking-up sound, and cranked it does have a "pigbark" (thanks Jim!) Sound, but a little volume knobbage brings it back to that sound at 4-5. It is still the honeymoon period and I haven't tried it with my band, but time will tell! When I try to play "Blues for Roy" it sounds very much like the record!!
yeah seems this amp is very loud but with great sound behind it. great for rockabilly, jazz, blues and of course surf. i would use this amp for all gigs even if miked.
I have real amp envy. I live in a condo in Tokyo, where they don't tolerate noise. If I move into a house, I will definitely be buying a Princeton Reverb! Until then my Yamaha THR10C and Strymon Flint will have to suffice. :-)
My favorite speaker is the Weber 10F150T. Very close to the original Jensen that came in some princetons and Vibroux reverbs. They break up in a nice smooth way and sound great clean. I've tried twelve inch speakers always go back to tens. I may give the celestion Jim recommends a try.
